Building Up French Dance:
The Life of Françoise Dupuy
A towering figure in the world of French dance, Françoise Dupuy rose to prominence as a dancer, a choreographer, an exceptional teacher and a public servant, since she had a hand in the growth in funding and support for dance at the French Ministry of Culture in the 1980s and 1990s. Her career spanned the development of modern and contemporary dance in the second half of the 20th century, and she made an active contribution to it alongside other pioneers like her husband, the dancer and choreographer Dominique Dupuy. In the wake of her death last September at the age of 97, CN D Magazine pays tribute to Françoise Dupuy’s exceptional achievements with this short film.
