 Choreographing Against AIDS:
Élisabeth Lebovici

In her book What AIDS Did to Me: Art and Activism at the End of the 20th Century, the French critic and art historian Élisabeth Lebovici looked back on the work and legacy of a group of artists who lived through the HIV/AIDS crisis during the 1980s and 1990s. Ahead of Exposé·es, a new exhibition inspired by her work at the Palais de Tokyo and the CN D, Lebovici talked to CN D Magazine about the role dance and performance played at the height of the epidemic, the “shock” she felt when she first saw the choreographer Alain Buffard on stage, and the ways in which the dance world has paid tribute to those it lost over the years.
